With 64-bit support and GPU 3D acceleration, Flash Player 11 is now available for download.

Flash_Player_LogoAs planned, Adobe has put Flash Player 11 online in addition to the AIR 3 execution environment. For Flash Player, this is the inauguration of a final 64-bit architecture version for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Such support is required if you want to use Flash Player with the 64 bit version of Internet Explorer.

One of the other big announcements with this Flash Player 11 is its use of a low level API for 3D GPU acceleration. Thanks to Stage 3D, Adobe is able to run online games in 2D and 3D quality, while also making full hardware acceleration available for 2D and 3D graphics at up to 100 faster than before.

Adobe has declared "developers can animate millions of objects with smooth 60 frames per second rendering and deliver cinematic, console-quality games both in browsers and in apps".

Stage 3D support for mobile platforms (Android, Apple iOS, BlackBerry Tablet OS) is also planned for a future release.
