The New York chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) has
honored Melinda M. White, Executive Vice President of Revenue
Development at Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: FTR), as a
“Woman of Power and Influence.” The award was presented to White by
NOW’s New York chapter at its 24th annual Women of Power and
Influence awards dinner on June 21.
White leads wireless, video, online and new business strategy for
Frontier’s operations in 27 states. The products and services developed
enhance life in rural and suburban America. For example, municipal Wi-Fi
networks across Frontier markets create wireless hotspots that allow
fast and convenient access to the Internet in anchor stores, community
centers and parks. She led the development and launch of TumTiki.com,
an online library of TV episodes, movies, local content,
professionally-produced clips and original web series with more than one
million videos available nationally for free viewing.
Earlier, White was Executive Vice President and General Manager of
Marketing and New Business Operations, responsible for company-wide
Marketing and Product and before that, Senior Vice President, Commercial
Sales and Marketing, responsible for wholesale and retail revenue,
product marketing and wireless operations. White joined the company in
2005 as Vice President and General Manager of Electric Lightwave, Inc.,
a unit of the company that she managed and helped position for sale to
Integra Telecom in 2006.
Before joining Frontier Communications, White was Executive Vice
President, National Accounts/Business Development for Wink
Communications, developing low-cost, end-to-end e-commerce systems. She
also held senior leadership positions at Cox Communications and Cellular
One (McCaw and the AT&T/AirTouch joint venture).
White earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Howard Payne
University in Texas and a Master of Business Administration degree from
Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“I am thrilled to be honored by the National Organization for Women, a
true advocate for women and girls and a tireless promoter of equal
rights, economic development and an end to discrimination and violence
against women,” said White. “NOW is a force for change, and to be
recognized by an organization that has done so much to improve the lives
of women legally, politically and socially is deeply rewarding.”
