The Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc. and the
Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) will adjoin their
meetings for a uniquely innovative, combined program designed for global
intellectual property (IP) licensing professionals and technology
managers at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel on March 14, 2012.
“We are very pleased to have this opportunity to bring our professional
groups together to network, collaborate and debate some of the most
critical issues facing our industry today,” said LES (USA & Canada)
President Tom Filarski. “These are challenging times, and the importance
of collaboration between colleagues across industries and among allied
groups is increasingly vital for success.”
"Industry will also benefit from this collaboration," said AUTM
President Robin Rasor, CLP, RTTP. "AUTM has always provided a rare
opportunity for those companies seeking to collaborate with and
ultimately license academic technologies to meet with licensing
professionals from nearly every academic institution in the United
States. Now with both AUTM and LES in the same venue at the same time,
our industry counterparts will find their ability to network even more
effective," added Rasor.
The joint programming will include not only a lively negotiation session
titled: “Dirty Little Tricks People Play in Licensing Negotiations,”
but will also feature the Honorable Randall Rader, Chief Judge of the
Circuit Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, who will preside over
mock oral arguments debating pivotal issues affecting technology
transfer. Attendees will be invited to weigh in during this entertaining
and informative session.
The joint programming will follow the LES Winter Meeting (March 12-14)
and will precede AUTM’s Annual Meeting (March 14-17). All of the week’s
events will be held at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel.
