Golfers Raise Record Amount for Charity at PSI’s 15th Annual Golf Tournament

Planned Systems International, Inc. (PSI), a respected provider of information technology (IT) solutions and services to the federal government, announced that a record amount was raised for charity at its 15th Annual Golf Invitational held October 14, 2011 at Argyle Country Club in Silver Spring, MD. Nearly 200 players and volunteers came out for a great day of golf that helped raise funds for cancer victims and their families.

Contributions raised from the event totaled $32,249. With PSI's 100% matching donation, a total of $64,498 was collected. Of this amount, $45,555 will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and $18,943 will go to Special Love, a nonprofit organization benefiting victims of Ewing's sarcoma, a cancer affecting children and young adults. This year's donations represent an increase of nearly $6,000 over the amount raised by PSI in 2010.

"From our very first PSI charity golf tournament 15 years ago to today, our mission has been to bring together Government customers, partnering companies, friends and supporters to raise money and increase awareness for a very worthy cause," said Terry Lin, CEO. "It is with great appreciation that we thank all who participated for their faithful support towards finding a cure and helping kids cope with cancer.”

Dave Smith, CEO of Special Love, said “The lagging economy has been especially tough on modest-sized charities like us. To have so many golfers willing to include Special Love in their giving – not to mention PSI’s willingness to match it – has had a huge impact on us, and is largely responsible for the fact that we’ve not had to cut any funding for programs. We’re so grateful to continue to be part of such a fun – and fruitful – event.”

PSI's 16th Annual Corporate Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 19, 2012.
