Google demonstrates their autonomous car

Google has conducted a new demonstration of their autonomous car, demonstrating how they can really make the lives of people who have limited sight much easier.

Google-voiture-autonomeYou may not know it, but Google has been working on an autonomous car project since 2010, which means that no driver is required.

To demonstrate the effectiveness of their technology, Google recently released a video which a car drives for Steve Mahan, with this man only having 5% of his vision available. The car drove to a fast food restaurant and dry cleaner so that the man could pick up his dry cleaning, before returning home.

All of this was done without the help of a driver or accompanying passenger. The car calls on a pre-programmed itinerary and numerous sensors to keep the car on the right track and avoid any eventual accidents.

This certainly looks like a promising project for the handicapped and people who want to get home safely after having a night out on the town.
