Presented during the Google I/O 2012 developer’s conference, the Nexus Q surprised everyone. Its release to Google Play was also a surprise to everyone as the device sold out within 24 hours.
It took less than 24 hours from the release of the Nexus Q for the device to be sold out. Initially available for delivery to uses within 3 to 5 days, the device is now only available within 2 to 3 weeks. All stock was sold within a day, with such strong demand also being tempered by Google perhaps under estimating the quantities required for the devices initial launch.
This 116 mm diameter sphere runs on Android 4.0, alias Ice Cream Sandwich, and comes with a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 SoC with double core processor. This is paired with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal flash memory.
Integrating its own amplifier, the Nexus Q can be connected to a HDTV and its speakers via its HDMI port. In terms of connectivity options, we find Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an RJ45 Ethernet port and even NFC.

Streaming is its strong point, with Google talking of "social" streaming as users are able to change the different playlists and access the Nexus Q from their other Android devices in the home.
Like the Nexus 7 tablet unveiled during Google I/O, we will have to wait and see when Google releases the Nexus Q to international markets.
