Gregg C. Sayre, formerly Associate General Counsel for Frontier
Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: FTR), was sworn in July 9th
as a Commissioner of the New York State Public Service Commission. He
was nominated on June 19, 2012 by Governor Andrew Cuomo and confirmed
June 21, 2012 by the New State Senate as a member of the Public Service
Commission.
“Gregg is a brilliant attorney and a superb addition to the Public
Service Commission,” said Kathleen Quinn Abernathy, Executive Vice
President, External Affairs for Frontier. “His 24 years of legal
experience in New York and knowledge of technology and regulatory
affairs will advance the work of the Commission and benefit the citizens
of the state. He will be a dedicated and committed public servant. Gregg
will be missed after 25 years with Frontier.”
Sayre has been a member of Frontier’s legal department since 1987.
Before that he was a regulatory attorney for The Chesapeake and Potomac
Telephone Companies (now part of Verizon Communications) and earlier, an
attorney with the Law Bureau of the Pennsylvania Public Utility
Commission.
A graduate of Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, Sayre earned a J.D.
with honors from Harvard Law School. He received an M.S. in Information
Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New
York. He and his wife Susan have three grown children.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to complement the policies and
priorities of Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature and to help
advance the revitalization of New York’s economy and ensure consumer
protections,” said Sayre. “I am eager to work collaboratively with all
stakeholders in industries doing business before the Commission to
achieve fair and equitable solutions. I look forward to working with my
fellow Commissioners and the staff of the New York State Public Service
Commission as we address those critical public policy issues that will
affect the future of our state.”
