Why does my Linux crapware identify a mouse as a keyboard?

I know that stuff in /etc/cron.daily, cron.hourly, cron.monthly will be run even if the system is off when the set time/date comes to pass. i.e. missed jobs WILL run once the system is booted back up. What about /etc/cron.d ? Batman: Good grammar ...
