Change the size of the history in Word

April 08th, 2011 - 05:10 am ET by D. T.

If you work with a lot of files in Microsoft Word, you may want to increase the size of the history file of open documents so that you can easily open your most frequently accessed documents.

To start, click on the main button situated to the top left and click on the "Word Options" button that appears at the bottom.

Word historique 1

Next select the section titled "Advanced Options" to the top left and scroll to the right until you find the sub-section titled "Display". From here, you simply need to configure the number of recently opened documents you want displayed, before clicking on "Ok" for the change to take effect. Thirty or so is a good number allowing you to easily access your favourite documents while also limiting the number to something that is legible.

Word historique 2

To be sure that some documents remain in the history, it is possible to pin them to the Recent list by right clicking on it and selecting Pin to List.
