[Hot News]Enjoy videos/movies on PS Vita

You may have noticed that Sony PlayStation Vita has a beautiful OLED
high resolution widescreen. If you are much a movie fan like me, you
can make it look so much like a portable media player to watch videos
except playing games. Unfortunately, something went wrong when you try
to transfer MKV files to PlayStation Vita for playing, below are two
related questions:

Q1: The question is I would like to transfer and get some of my movies
files onto it for playback on my trip. And most of my video files are
in mkv format. Does PS Vita play mkv files actually? I know PSP
couldn’t but not sure the latest console from Sony can play the most
popular video format around.

Q2: Has anyone with an imported Vita tried this? I’m wondering if you
can copy .mkv files from a USB stick onto the Vita like you can on the
PS3.

Convert/Transfer/Copy AVI/MKV/WMV/FLV video files to PS Vita for
smooth playback

The PlayStation Vita (also known as "PSVita" or "PSV") is the
successor to the PlayStation Portable as part of the PlayStation brand
of gaming devices. It was released in Japan and parts of Asia on
December 17, 2011 and is expected to be released in Europe, Australia,
and North America on February 22, 2012. With the PlayStation Vita
system’s stunning, multitouch 5-inch OLED display it can catch every
detail. Thus, why not turn your PS Vita as your portable media player?
In this article, we will talk about how to play videos on PS Vita on
the go.

First of all, we list the PS Vita Supported Audio/Video content
format:
- Music: MP3 MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer 3, MP4 (MPEG-4 AAC), WAVE (Linear
PCM)
- Video: MPEG-4 Simple Profile (AAC, Maximum 320 x 240 pixels), H.264/
MPEG-4 AVC Hi/Main/Baseline Profile (AAC, Maximum 720p)
- Photo: JPEG (Exif 2.2.1), TIFF, BMP, GIF, PNG
