ieframe.dll problem

Laptop crashed and reinstalle Win XP to latest updates.
Probably a mistake but installed IE8.
Installed VB6 Enterprise SP6 and hopefully the correct controls
updates.

Then I worked on several VB6 app just fine.
But when I opened one of my VB6 apps that uses the Web Brower in
internet controls, it would not load properly reporint a missing
ieframe.dll.

In Components I see MS Internet Controls at
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ieframe.dll

When I Apply I get the error message

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ieframe.dll\1

Not found.

However, ieframe.dll is there in Windows\System32
But version 8.00.6001.19098

What is happening and how do I fix?

It's a corrupted reference in the registry. Open up RegEdit and
search for ieframe.dll\1 and remove the "\1" from the found key.
Once you've confirmed that fixes it, right click on the key and
export it, and keep it handy. I have this happen from time to time,
and a registry import fixes it right up. If this doesn't work,
lemme know and I'll dig out the .reg file I use.
