DHCP is a protocol that allows a computer that is connected to a network to automatically obtain its TCP/IP configuration. The object of DHCP is to simplify the configuration of the computers connected to the network.

The address of the default gateway: This is the address of the router that will allow your client to access other networks. For example, an ADSL router / modem.

Domain name and DNS server: This is where you can note the domain name that your client computers will be connected to and the IP address of the DNS servers. For example, a DNS forwarder, or the DNS addresses of your Internet provider.

Wins Servers: This is the address of the Wins servers connected to your network. A Wins server allows you to centralize your networks Netbios name resolutions.

Once all of this information has been saved, the assistant will ask you if you wish to make your scope active. This operation will make your server operational.
