This tutorial will explain in detail how to install and configure an FTP server with IIS (Internet Information Services), which is integrated into Windows NT 4, 2000 and XP Pro. This server will allow you to share your files and restrict access only to your friends.

2. Installation de IIS

We will now look at the installation of the FTP server. We are using IIS version 5.0 which can be found in Windows XP Pro, but the installation is similar under Windows 2000.

To install this, go to the “Control Panel” and select “Add/Remove Programs” and click on “Add and Remove Windows componenets”.
Look down the list to find the “Internet Services (IIS)” and check the box as you can see below:

 



Once the progam has been installed it is time to look at the administration of the server.
