Spark is a Jabber instant messaging client written in Java. Due to this programming language, it is multi-platform and works on Windows, Linux and Mac.
The biggest advantage with this program is its ease of use and the support for pictures and smileys.
The functions that are available with this program include a spell checker, support for Jabber gateways, a multi-user chat mode, the presentation of windows on tabs and voice over IP telephony.
In the event that this list seems too short for you, it also has the original option of sending a copy of your screen to your contacts.
An excellent client, accompanied by its server: Wildfire
It should be noted that the company Ignite Realtime (previously known as Jive Software) originally developed this and was also offering an open source version of a Jabber server: Wildfire.
You can also freely download version 2.0.7 of this excellent program from the Ignite Realtime product download page.
It should be noted that Java isn’t completely free, as it isn’t available for the time being on Linux by default. You will therefore have to download it from the software maker’s site, like you have to do with other operating systems.
