InvenSense, Inc. (NYSE:INVN), the leading provider of MotionTracking™
devices for consumer electronic products, today announced it has filed
an answer and counterclaims against STMicroelectronics, Inc. (“ST”) in
the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in
response to what it believes are meritless allegations by ST of patent
infringement in relation to InvenSense’s innovative MotionTracking™
devices and gyroscope products. In its answer and counterclaims,
InvenSense denies infringement and validity of the nine patents asserted
by ST in a complaint filed on May 16, 2012. In addition, InvenSense has
brought its own counterclaims against ST for alleged infringement of two
InvenSense patents, U.S. Patent No. 7,290,435 (“Method and Apparatus for
Electronic Cancellation of Quadrature Error”) and U.S. Patent No.
7,458,263 (“Method of Making an X-Y Axis Dual-Mass Tuning Fork Gyroscope
with Vertically Integrated Electronics and Wafer-Scale Hermetic
Packaging”). As set forth in its counterclaims, InvenSense alleges that
these patents are infringed by ST 3-axis gyroscope products.
