Welcome:
This is the first page that will appear when you type in the IPCop web administration interface address in your browser (http://AddressIpIntefaceGreen:81 see here).
On this page it is possible to cut all traffic from passing through IPCop with the [Disconnect] button (the connection is automatically established at the startup of the server), and to also see how long your connection has been established.
Other relative information for this interface is available: host name of your intenet providers network, date of last software update as well as the time on the server and the number of users connected (using an SSH interface).
Updates:
System updates are available every one or two months, offering new options or simply to correct any bugs.
The updates are very simple to install: you just need to click on the [Details] button, download the file onto your local computer, then upload the file onto the server via the [Browse] and [Load] buttons on the page. It is not necessary to restart the server for the updates to take effect.
The roadmap of IPCop version 1.5 allows you to automatically program the download and installation of updates for the server.
It is also possible to empty the cache in this menu (the /var/log) with the use of the [Empty cache] button.
Passwords:
The administrator passwords (to access the web interface) and to dial (only users that are authorized to connect or disconnect the modem connection) can be modified on this page. These passwords should contain at least 6 characters (recommended). The admin password can also be modified via the setup command in SSH (which allows, among other things, the ability to change the root password).
SSH Access:
SSH access is not activated by default, and shouldn’t be unless we intend to use it. The IPCop SSH keys are RSA and DSA encrypted in 1024 bits.
It is possible to refuse SCP transfers, preventing the copy of files to IPCop with WinSCP (for example). Other options are relative to the version of the SSH client being used and the password authentication and public keys being used. Of course, any changes that are made need to be validated with the [Save] button before they take effect…
