Jabber: protocol and clients

Just like MSN, IQC, AIM and the other, Jabber is a messaging protocol. But unlike the others, this one is open source, open and free. This means that we can be connected to a lot of different servers without having to use different programs. This tutorial should be able to help you better understand the protocol and how to choose the best client for you. Ce dossier devrait vous aider à mieux comprendre ce protocole et à choisir le meilleur client.

Gaim is an open source, free project, with the goal of developing a metamessager that is multi-platform. Gaim is easily configured and very efficient with the only let down being with power-users who may think that it lacks some options and settings.

  • Possible to install on Windows

  • Possible to install on Linux

  • Possible to install on MacOS X

  • Allows you to add in some (rare) plug-ins

My opinion: Perfect for those that want to choose a metamessenger over a Jabber client and still want to have an ease of utilization.
