Jabber: protocol and clients

Just like MSN, IQC, AIM and the other, Jabber is a messaging protocol. But unlike the others, this one is open source, open and free. This means that we can be connected to a lot of different servers without having to use different programs. This tutorial should be able to help you better understand the protocol and how to choose the best client for you. Ce dossier devrait vous aider à mieux comprendre ce protocole et à choisir le meilleur client.

Psi is a little less configurable then the previous two clients. This also means that it is a little bit more difficult to use. This means that it takes a little longer to get used to and its ergonomics are not quite as good. This said, it really is a question of taste.

  • Installation possible under Window 9x and higher

  • Installation possible under MacOS X

  • Installation possible under Linux

  • Good conference managing

  • Multiple profiles available

My Opinion: Psi possesses a few extra options then the others. It is a step between the other two and the more advanced options that can be seen on the following pages.

Now we are going to have a look at the clients that are reserved more for the power-users.
