NTT DATA MSE, a subsidiary of NTT Data and one of the leading system
integrators in the world, and Expway, a mobile broadcast solution
provider, announced today that their joint solution powers the next-gen
Mobile TV service in Japan, launched 1st April 2012. The
solution is being integrated in ten’s of Android mobile devices for this
year only and it is expected to reach in 50 million devices in the next
5 years.
Expway’s mobile broadcast middleware manages on the device the catalog
of all live TV events (EPG) and on-Demand (ECG) in a compressed and
efficient mode. Thanks to the solution, NOTTV subscribers will have a
large variety of fresh content with no download or buffering time,
wherever they are. By paying a monthly subscription fee, end-users will
get a myriad of content to their fingertips: Hundreds of premium movies,
TV series, music, e-books, newspapers, games and magazines are cached on
their devices, always in a crystal clear quality.
By using Expway’s solution, telecom operators are able to offload the
heavy video traffic from their 3G network to the mobile broadcast
network. The technology allows telecom operators to cope with the
exponential growth of mobile video and still deliver the best possible
quality of experience.
“We have selected Expway's mobile broadcast middleware after one year
of technical evaluation. Their mobile broadcast middleware has proved to
be the most robust and efficient solution on the market. Expway has also
shown a strong experience in the domain after having done several Mobile
TV deployments in the world. We have been working very closely together
for the last year, to deliver the best solution for the launch of the
NOTTV”, states Mr. Makoto Fukuma, Senior Vice President, from NTT
Data MSE.
Expway’s FastCast™ adopts a new approach to TV and Video On Demand. Its
highly optimized multicast protocol and error-correction algorithms make
it possible for the broadcaster to send video files, video segments or
metadata in the most reliable way. The technology ensures a 99.99%
reception guarantee for pushed file, unlike any existing Push
technology. And if the file is not received the first time via
broadcast, only a small repair file will be sent at 3G.
“We strongly believe that our partnership with NTT DATA MSE ’s
delivers the best to our customers in Japan. NTT Data MSE was extremely
efficient in integrating, adapting and porting our solution to the
Japanese market. We are also very proud that our solution was selected
for the next-gen Mobile DTV service in Japan.” stated Claude Seyrat,
VP Marketing & Co-founder of Expway, “The more people want to
watch video on their mobile devices, the brighter the world looks for
mobile broadcast. Let’s not forget that broadcast is by far the most
efficient way to deliver large files and video to numerous end-users”,
concluded Claude Seyrat.
The solution is presented at NAB in Las Vegas, on
booth SU9602.
