Kernel version numbering plans

What's the plan when we approach kernel version 4.0?

Will we be moving in to version 4.x or staying in the 3.x numbers for
the time being?

The default is that we would stay with 3.x I don't see any reason
why we would go to 4.x any time in the near future.
