kernell32.dll error message

July 09th, 2003 - 11:12 am ET by bill rodriguez | Report spam
when I access explorer (version 6.1), i receive a message
that says "kernell32.dll has caused an error. explorer
will now close". when i close this window, i access
explorer o.k. However, after a few minutes the p.c.
freezes and i have to manually shut off as i can not use
ctl, alt, del to restart. this causes machine to check disk
for error upon restart due to improper shut down. it is
happening more frequently. Also, if I access any other
application, system will eventually freeze. this causes me
to lose information, or have to restart my task again. how
can i resolve this problem?

thanks for your guidance.

Are you sure you recorded the message correctly? Did it perhaps say
"Explorer has caused an error in kernel32.dll. Explorer will now
close".

It is very very very rare for kernel32.dll to be the instigator of an
error condition. It is vastly more likely to be the victim.

Next time the error happens press Alt+D while the error message is
still on the screen which will bring up the Detailed Error Message.
Copy the first part of the Detailed Error Message, up to the word
Registers, and use that information to research the error on MVP Jim
Eshelman's web page for kernel32.dll errors at
http://aumha.org/win4/a/kernel32.htm

Or you could post the information from the detailed error message back
here.

Good luck
