Kicksend, a Y Combinator-backed
company, today announced deep photo printing integration with Walgreens,
the nation’s largest drugstore chain, on its free, private photo-sharing Android
app.
With Kicksend’s Android app, users can now print large batches – up to
30 at a time – of their own photos or photos sent to them by family and
friends by uploading them to Walgreens for printing at any of the
drugstore’s nearly 8,000 stores in all 50 U.S. states. Within an hour of
sending the digital files directly from their phone, users can
conveniently pick up high-quality prints at a local Walgreens store.
“Kicksend has done a great job capturing the spirit of innovation that
Walgreens was looking for with the launch of the QuickPrints developer
program,” said Tim McCauley, Senior Director of Consumer Mobile for
Walgreens. “The Kicksend Android and iPhone apps showcase how
QuickPrints can be seamlessly integrated within the application
experience."
An additional new service lets users of Kicksend’s Android app send
photos to those who do not have the Kicksend app installed on their
phones. Recipients receive an SMS message inviting them to download and
install the Kicksend app to view and print the sent photos. This feature
also enables users to share photos with friends and family who live in
other countries.
Kicksend was created to enable users to quickly and easily share large
batches of full-quality photos with family members and friends via the
Android or iPhone mobile app, the Kicksend website or via a desktop
application that can send even larger batches of photos. In July 2012,
Kicksend unveiled Walgreens photo printing integration on its iPhone app.
“Kicksend’s mission is to make it easy for everyday people to stay in
touch with friends and family through photo sharing,” said Pradeep
Elankumaran, CEO & co-founder of Kicksend. “Holding freshly printed
photos of people and moments we care about is always a wonderful
feeling, and we are incredibly excited to bring this Walgreens
integration to our Android users. Now Android users everywhere can
easily share, print and keep their most cherished memories for years to
come.”
