The National
Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) Innovation Working group has
announced the first projects, individuals, and organizations to receive
NDSA Innovation Awards. An Individual award has been given to Peter
Krogh, who is recognized for his work on The
DAM Book, the dpBestflow
website and as a principal author of the Shutha
project, each of which have helped raise awareness and make
information on digital preservation practices more accessible to
photographers. The mission of the NDSA is to establish, maintain, and
advance the capacity to preserve the nation's digital resources for the
benefit of present and future generations.
Peter Krogh is a commercial photographer, writer and consultant based in
the Washington DC area. He is Chair of the American
Society of Media Photographer's (ASMP) Digital Standards and
Practices Committee and a former Board member of ASMP. He speaks
frequently on Digital Asset Management to photographers' groups and
others and, in the last few years, he has traveled throughout the world
helping photographers and image collection managers learn and understand
best practices for preserving photographic images.
According to ASMP Executive Director Eugene Mopsik, "ASMP was pleased to
nominate Peter for this important award. As an author, speaker, and
advocate, he is making truly significant contributions to the world of
photography on digital workflow and preservation and ASMP is proud to
have him as a member and head of our digital standards group." ASMP is a
Founding member of NDSA.
Peter Krogh said, "I am grateful for this recognition of what has become
an important part of my life's work. ASMP has been a great partner in
supporting and connecting with photographers to ensure the preservation
of their images." Peter accepted his award at the NDSA's conference,
Digital Preservation 2012, held July 24-26 in Washington D.C.
