Live Mail Appearance

Just spent the day setting up a new Windows 7 Desktop PC for a friend and I
noticed something different between his installation of Live mail and my own
which I hope someone can explain.

Unlike mine, which is also on windows 7 desktop but 32 bit and not 64 bit
like my friends, he has a ribbon bar with icons and tabbed pages not unlike
that used in Office 2007 and 2010 but all mail orientated, A very "busy"
setup, Mine is just standard words e.g. New, Reply Sync etc and not "busy£
at all just very simplistic.

Can anyone explain why the difference and whether I can replicate his or for
that matter he can replicate mine - Mine is simpler and he would find that
easier

You have the 2009 Version, he has the 2011.
Simple easy to use control is not available in V 2011.
