Manage your display on two screens in Windows 7

December 11th, 2009 - 08:10 am ET by D. T.

This tip is aimed mostly at users who use their computer for meetings where the primary screen can be seen on the computer, while the second display is projected for the audience to see.

With double-screen management having been greatly simplified under Windows 7, you no longer need to browse through the display properties. You now just needs to use the [Windows + P] key combination to have direct access to the display management menu, with it then possible to click on the option you wish:

Menu affichage Windows 7

  • Display on the main screen only
  • Identical display on two screens
  • Display spread across the two screens
  • Display on the second screen only

To swap the active windows from one screen to the other, simply use the [Windows + left arrow] or [Windows + right arrow], with the first displaying the active windows on the main screen, while the second option displays the active window on the second screen.
