system.

I did a search for SideBySide and found:

SideBySide is an adware program associated with sidebysidesearch.com
domain. It monitors user activity in the Internet, records keywords
that the user enters into web search services and displays commercial
pop-up advertisements. SideBySide must be manually installed. It has
no dangerous payload.

SideBySide properties:
• Shows commercial adverts
• Connects itself to the internet
• Hides from the user
• Stays resident in background

SideBySide manual removal:

sbss.exe

Delete registry values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\sbss
launcher= C:\Program Files\sbss\sbss.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\sbss
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\sbss
HELP:
how to remove registry entries

Delete files:
sbss.exe, uninstall sbss.exe
HELP:
how to remove harmful files

Delete directories:
C:\Program Files\sbss

I do not have sbss running in task manager-Processes
I do not have any of the registry entries or the files.

I have not installed SideBySide.

Can anyone give me any advice ?
TIA

This may be what you want:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/e...aspx?id387

See here for explanation:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...80%29.aspx

In this case Side-by-Side is not a program. It's Microsoft's
harebrained idea to solve so-called DLL Hell by simply putting
every possible version of every possible system file into the
winsxs folder. Updated system files used to go to the system
folder. Increasingly they get put into the winsxs folder, which
has a structure that allows any number of versions to be installed.
So if one program was using lib1.dll v.4 and another was using
v. 4.1, they can both have their own version without one
replacing the other. (As far as I know, this system seems to
work. It's partially what accounts for the popular impression that
Windows 7 works well. The harebrained part is that the cost of
having every possible version of every possible support file is
a stunningly bloated OS. On WinXP the winsxs folder is new and
is only used for a few things [like the various versions of the VC++
runtime]. My C:\Windows\winsxs folder is 24 MB. But on Vista/7
it starts out over 4 GB -- the installer basically dumps the entire
installer DVD into that folder, including both 32- and 64-bit system
files! -- and it then grows to 20...30 or more GB. There seems to
be no limit to the number of files that you will never need...and
which can never be removed...that Microsoft will install to that
folder.)

The above, however, may not apply to the problem
you're having. Your first error message is about Nuance
software. I don't see why you think those are error
messages connected with WMP.

Finally, a side note: Have you looked into VLC, the open
source media player? WMP is spyware. There's no need
to use it that I know of.
