Now that Apple has unveiled iOS 6, it’s Microsoft’s turn to present Windows Phone 8 at a developer’s event. Screen captures are starting to emerge.
June 2012 has been a big month for mobile platforms as developer’s events for Apple, Microsoft and Google have been unveiled only a few weeks apart. Apple opened things by presenting iOS 6 and its new features, with it soon to be Microsoft’s turn with Windows Phone 8.
Screen shots are now starting to appear on the web of the future mobile OS which is expected for release in the second half of the year, with these demonstrating expected innovations: the advanced integration of Skype into Windows Phone 8.

The VoIP service, purchased by Microsoft, should become one of the standard communication options on the Windows Phone, like mobile voice and SMS, with naive integration of the service. The screen captures also demonstrate a data consummation monitoring service, with a live tile providing details about users remaining quotas.

Finally, and widely expected, the migration of Bing Maps to Nokia Maps with its GPS navigation service and traffic information has been made. We will now have to see whether these screen shots are authentic, with the Windows Phone Developer Summit promising to provide more information about the Windows Phone 8 on the 20th and 21st of June.
The site WPCentral points out that since the announcement of iOS 6, most of the features Apple has unveiled are also found in Windows Phone 8, with the exception of Siri which does not yet have an equivalent on Microsoft’s mobile platform.
