Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO:6503) today reimbursed 26,081,684
yen to the national treasury in relation to overcharged expenses on
contracts by the company's Kamakura Works for consigned research and
development of "polarization division multiplexing technology for
satellite communications" carried out from June 2006 to March 2009 on
behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).
The company's business performance for the fiscal year ending March 2013
has not been changed in relation to this refund.
Mitsubishi Electric is currently cooperating fully with investigations
concerning overcharged expenses to Japan's Ministry of Defense, Cabinet
Satellite Intelligence Center and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency,
and will disclose any impact as soon as the situation is better
understood.
