First delete the contents of the spool folder:

Start Windows Explorer.
On the View menu, click Folder Options.
Click the View tab, click Show all files, click to clear the Hide file
extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.
Browse to the following location:
C:\Windows\Spool\Printers
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the File menu, click Delete.
When the Confirm File Delete message appears, click Yes.
Quit Windows Explorer.

Restart the computer.

If this doesn't help, try clean booting.

I also suggest posting your question on a group that supports Winword. This
is where you find the experts in that particular product and they may have
other suggestions.
