Motorola has apparently ordered between 700 000 and 800 000 units of their Xoom tablets for the first quarter 2011.

Motorola Xoom 01Motorola Mobility has unveiled their first tactile tablet at the CES 2011 show in Las Vegas, the Motorola Xoom - a 10" tablet which will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and integrate an LTE module (Long Term Evolution).

It will also be one of the first tablets capable of supporting very high speed mobile connections on US carrier Verizon Wireless’ LTE network. According to information provided by Taiwanese component providers, the American manufacturer has already passed an order for between 700 000 and 800 000 units for the first quarter of 2011.

Privileged partnerships to launch Android Honeycomb
And this is only the beginning as they are anticipating that sales will pass through the million units mark during the quarter. Digitimes notes that Android Honeycomb was specifically designed for 7" and 10" tactile tablets, with players specialising in the production of mobile/roaming devices being favoured rather than manufacturers of laptop/ultraportable computers.

It also appears that Motorola and Samsung are Google priority partners for Android 3.0 Honeycomb, with LG Electronics and HTC to receive the system after, which could explain why the two company’s haven’t made any dramatic announcements during the CES 2011 show, instead preferring to release their latest devices during the MWC 2011 show in Barcelona in February.
