nCircle, the leader in information
risk and security performance management solutions, today announced
that the nCircle 2012 Information Security and Compliance Trend Study
includes a new feature to address trends specific to the U.S. federal
government. The company surveyed over 100 respondents in the federal IT
security community including senior management, IT operations, security
professionals, and risk and audit managers from government agencies and
contractor organizations.
nCircle has conducted the annual study for three years, and this year
decided to add targeted questions to focus on several key federal
information security initiatives significantly impacting government risk
management.
Federal respondents were asked to answer questions such as:
-
Has the practice of monthly reporting into CyberScope reduced your
agency’s FISMA compliance burden?
-
Have you seen measurable reductions in your agency’s risk, based on
continuous monitoring efforts to date?
-
Have FedRAMP’s baseline security controls advanced your agency’s
migration to the cloud?
-
As government expands its use of mobile devices, do you have a
strategy for monitoring them?
“In order for the government to realize success in its push toward
security automation as a means of improving the risk profile of its
systems, goals must be clearly defined for programs such as
CyberScope/CyberStat, Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program
(FedRAMP), Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), and others,” said Keren
Cummins, nCircle's director of federal markets. “The new section of
nCircle’s annual survey was designed to provide federal decision makers
with data that will help them make informed decisions about what is
working and not working, and to help shape successful agency programs.”
The online and in-person study was conducted between April 19 and July
6, 2012, and will be released next month.
nCircle has supported federal customers since the company’s inception
and currently works with most major cabinet-level agencies including the
Office of the President. nCircle will continue to track high-impact
federal initiatives as they evolve in future annual trend studies.
