NEC Corporation (TSE:6701) has just entered into a worldwide patent
license agreement with Klausner Technologies, Inc., under the Klausner
Visual Voicemail patents, for NEC’s enterprise voicemail products. NEC
is now licensed under Klausner’s U.S. Canadian, European, Japanese,
Korean, and Taiwanese patents to provide enterprise users the ability to
visually identify and selectively retrieve voice messages.
The new license with NEC brings Klausner Technologies’ total number of
Visual Voicemail patent licensees under its U.S. and foreign patents to
38. Licensees include international mobile operators, cell phone
manufacturers, cable/VOIP providers, providers of OTT Visual Voicemail
products as well as providers of Visual Voicemail products and services
for the enterprise market.
NEC has been dismissed with prejudice from the ongoing case (Klausner
Technologies, Inc. v. Alcatel-Lucent, et. al, Case No. 6-11-cv-231)
pending in Federal Court in the Eastern District of Texas. Remaining
defendants in the lawsuit include Toshiba Corporation (TSE:6502) and
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd (KS:005930). Klausner is being represented
by the California law firm of Dovel & Luner.
