New Powerwave Indoor Picocell Combines Broadband LTE® and Wi-Fi® in a Single Basestation

Powerwave Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global leader in advanced wireless solutions, today announced a new LTE Picocell for indoor applications that offers a form factor and signal power levels that are optimized for office buildings, shopping centers and indoor venues.

The new indoor Picocell will debut at CTIA WIRELESS 2011 (March 22-24 in Orlando, FL) at booth #2459. It is a key addition to Powerwave’s Inside Out Solutions™ network strategy, which is designed to provide ubiquitous mobile broadband coverage both inside buildings and outdoors in large venues.

Today’s announcement expands the Powerwave Picocell family, which includes an outdoor picocell that was first introduced in February. Both models are among the highest capacity picocells, supporting up to 100 active outdoor users and 32 active indoor users, and up to 1,000 registered users. They support all 4G frequency bands in the 700MHz to 2.7 GHz range and feature a 2x2 MIMO antenna for additional capacity. They also feature an optional concurrent dual-band 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi radio that makes them a single system for all carrier and enterprise wireless needs.
