The latest and most innovative 1394-equipped cameras for vision systems
and industrial automation will be on display at the Automate 2011
conference and exposition at McCormick Place in Chicago March 21-24.
Leading developers and suppliers will demonstrate products that use
1394b, which provides 800 Megabit/second performance and has become a
popular standard worldwide in a broad range of applications.
Point Grey Research will demonstrate its newly-introduced 1.4 megapixel
1394b high-performance Grasshopper®2
camera, which uses the sensitive Sony® ICX285 2/3" EXview HAD CCD and a
14-bit analog-to-digital converter to generate high quality 1.4
megapixel images at 30 FPS – double the rate of the previous
Grasshopper. The compact Grasshopper2 measures just 44 x 29 x 58 mm in
size, and offers new features such as opto-isolated GPIO for industrial
triggering and strobe output, and optimized performance imaging modes.
Point Grey will be at booth 728. www.ptgrey.com
Sony Visual Imaging Products, at booth 628, will show its newly released
ultra-lightweight XCDMV6 1394b-equipped digital camera. The new
progressive scan camera expands Sony’s popular CXD IEEE 1394b series.
The XCDMV6 incorporates a 1/3-type wide VGA global shutter CMOS sensor
and is one of the smallest IEEE 1394b cameras available on the market. http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/product-XCDMV6/
Allied Vision Technologies (AVT) is a leading manufacturer of machine
vision cameras with the FireWire interface. AVT cameras are used in
industrial inspection, robotics, automation, medical imaging, traffic
monitoring, and many other systems. At booth 228, AVT will show its Stingray
and Pike
FireWire cameras, featuring two IEEE1394b FireWire ports for "daisy
chain" networking. http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/us/firewire-cameras.html
Intercon 1, a division of Nortech, develops 1394 cabling and assemblies
for the medical, scientific, industrial and security markets, including
machine vision and automation products, will be at booth 727 with its
latest FireWire cabling. www.intercon-1.com
NorPix, a leading developer of digital video recording software for
acquiring live video directly to hard disk or RAM, will be at booth 839.
User applications of NorPix products include 1394-based motion analysis,
image archiving, flow analysis, medical imaging and web inspection
systems. www.norpix.com
At booth 734, NET USA will show its innovative, high-quality camera
technology like FOculus 1394 cameras, along with lenses, illumination
and cable assemblies. NET camera technologies find vision applications

“FireWire has emerged as the interface of choice for many vision system
and industrial automation applications. The demonstrations at Automate
2011 will highlight the latest and most innovative 1394b-enabled
products,” said Max Bassler, chairman, 1394 Trade Association.
Formerly the International Robots, Vision & Motion Control Show, which
dates back to 1977, Automate now showcases the full spectrum of
automation technologies and solutions. It is held every two years. For
