It is actually possible to consult the latest news and/or tips from the Generation NT site directly from your Microsoft instant messenger, MSN Messenger.
To do this you will need to change your “ConfigCache.Xml” file that is located in the following directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\"session name"\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\"a group of numbers"\
Be careful, the “Application Data” folder is hidden and you may therefore need to modify two options before being able to access it.
To do this, double click on the “My Computer” and select Tools and Folder Options…
In the window that opens you will see a tab called view on which you will need to uncheck the two boxes that are marked in red on the screen capture:
Click OK to save your changes.
Now your hidden files will be visible, so you should be careful not to move or delete any system files that have now been uncovered.
Next you will need to open the “ConfigCache.Xml” file with any text editor, like notepad or wordpad, and add the following lines between the headers.
To add a tab to be able to consult the news on the site:
http://www.generation-nt.com/apps/msn/logo-GNT.png" Génération-NT.com Génération NT - les news http://www.generation-nt.com/apps/msn/msn-news.htm false To add a tab to consult the new tips on the site:
http://www.generation-nt.com/apps/msn/logo-GNT.png" Génération-NT.com Génération NT - les astuces http://www.generation-nt.com/apps/msn/msn-astuces.htm false
Notes: For this change to take effect you will need to quit MSN and restart it. You can delete all the other code lines that are between the markers and this will delete the two default Microsoft tabs. You can also modify the “ExpireInDays” tab that is situated at the start of the files that has a value of “2” and change it to “0”. This will allow other changes made in the ConfigCache.Xml file to be saved with out time limits. You can add as many other tabs as you want, for examples on how use the tab for the news and GNT tips.
