NextIO,
the premier provider of next-generation I/O consolidation and
virtualization solutions, today announced the availability of the vCORE
Express 2070Q appliance. The newest addition to the vCORE
Express product line, the 2070Q computing solution is designed
specifically to complement any Microsoft® desktop virtualization
strategy and to deliver a rich media desktop experience without
sacrificing CPU performance.
The vCORE Express 2070Q (“Q” is for Quadro® graphics) is the ideal
solution for enabling rich media VDI desktops using Microsoft RemoteFX™,
allowing larger numbers of VDI users to harness the power of hardware
accelerated graphics from a single graphics device. When combined with a
Microsoft Hyper-V® desktop virtualization environment, the 2070Q allows
for the more powerful VDI environment experience today’s computer users
have come to expect (i.e., AutoCAD, flash animation and videos).
“When it comes to virtual clients, all end users want at the end of the
day is a better, higher-quality desktop experience. Existing VDI
solutions steal cycles from the CPU to deliver only the basics of what
the user needs,” said Will Wade, senior product manager, Quadro
Virtualization and Remoting, NVIDIA. “With the vCORE Express 2070Q,
NextIO has taken our data center-class product and allows those same
virtual deployments to deliver not only basic computing needs, but what
the user wants — a great graphics experience in a virtualized
environment.”
Features of the vCORE Express 2070Q include:
-
Rich media desktop experience — By allowing virtual machines to
use the processing power of the GPUs, VDI seats can now take advantage
of the full Windows 7 desktop environment including 3D graphics and
Windows Aero® support.
-
More peripheral support — Traditional remote desktop protocol
(RDP) has left users with a very limited set of peripheral
support. RemoteFX adds to traditional peripherals by including USB
support for the most common devices.
-
Reduces CPU load — By putting the graphics load back on the
GPU, the CPU load is now reduced to work on the problem and not the
desktop experience.
-
Extends the life of VDI deployments — With the 2070Q, new life
can be brought to existing VDI hardware. With CPU load shifted to the
GPU and a better desktop experience, the existing hardware life can be
extended.
-
Powered by NVIDIA — Features the NVIDIA® Tesla™ M2070Q GPU, the
Fermi-based enterprise-class GPU purpose-built for VDI and remote
visualization.
Microsoft RemoteFX enables a superior rich media experience for VDI
environments never before possible in a virtualized environment. The
Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization layer takes advantage of the Quadro
graphics engine inside 2070Q to power the rich media applications from
the server — instead of the end-point device — providing users with
enhanced graphics without having to upgrade to a higher class of device.
From Silverlight® and Flash videos to the full Windows Aero look and
feel, RemoteFX with the 2070Q enables a true hardware-accelerated
graphics experience.
“Today’s computer users demand that their virtual machines offer
high-quality video and graphics capabilities, and we are pleased to
provide these features through the new vCORE Express 2070Q,” said Brooks
Ivey, vice president of Business Development, NextIO. “Today’s clients
that have traditionally been used in standard VDI situations can now
take advantage of a much richer experience with the use of the 2070Q.”
About NextIO
NextIO provides rack-level I/O consolidation and virtualization
solutions that maximize performance, productivity and efficiencies of
complex server I/O. Our innovative architecture is based upon industry
standard PCIe switching technology. By separating the compute from the
I/O we create pools of server I/O resources at the rack level that can
be shared, virtualized or dynamically allocated across servers within
the rack. Data center managers benefit from lower TCO and increased time
to revenue. NextIO solutions address data center requirements across
multiple industry segments including: Enterprise, Oil & Gas, High
Performance Computing, Financial Services, and Government. For more
