Laszlo Systems, a global leader in Rich Internet Application (RIA)
software and the original developer of OpenLaszlo, announced today that
the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) has completed
the roll-out of the new Laszlo Calendar product. This is a full-featured
Web 2.0 personal calendar with drag and drop integration with mail and
other Webtop applications. It combines state-of-the-art Web
collaboration tools such as publishing and subscribing to live calendar
feeds with an animated user experience that is intuitive, engaging and
fun to use.
"NRTC members expect to receive from us a full-featured set of
subscriber tools for their ISP,” said NRTC Director of Internet Services
Alana Pilkington. “The Laszlo Calendar delivers a rich user experience
with more advanced features than those found in typical Web
applications. Our members come to us for cutting-edge solutions that
enhance the lives of their rural subscribers. The Laszlo Calendar
delivers that, and its Webtop implementation enables us to add new
services and create bundles of services that will ensure its continued
value,” she added.
NRTC is one of a growing number of broadband service providers who have
selected Laszlo’s Webtop to increase revenue, lower messaging costs, and
drive subscriber loyalty. Laszlo Webtop provides the industry’s fastest
path for delivering multiple Web 2.0-based RIA applications that
seamlessly interact across popular browsers and devices. This provides
end-users with a suite of services that are easy to use, rich and
engaging. Webtop is the ideal convergence point for the consumer’s
communications needs.
“NRTC is one of the earliest adopters of our Webtop solution and we are
pleased to see that they have added calendar to their offering. This is
another proof point that our Webtop strategy allows service providers to
rapidly deploy differentiated services. At the same time, the rapidly
growing base of Webtop users creates a significant opportunity for the
incremental adoption of targeted applications as we move forward and
continue to innovate,” said George Shahid, President and CEO of Laszlo
Systems.
Earlier this year, Laszlo announced that Webtop sales have surpassed
seven million end-user licenses. Webtop is a sophisticated platform that
unifies access to an expanding suite of Rich Internet Applications such
as the new Calendar product. With Webtop Connectors and Laszlo
SmartObjects, Laszlo customers can integrate Webtop into their existing
environments and allow easy to use drag and drop integration between
different applications. By using Laszlo System’s award-winning
technology customers like NRTC can extend the product in differentiated
ways to meet the unique needs of their customers.
