Announced in June 2008, the Sony Ericsson C905 CyberShot isn’t yet available on the market. And while it isn’t a smartphone in the strict sense of the term (it uses a proprietary OS), its functions are comparable, or even superior to some smartphones.
The C series was initiated at the beginning of the year, with the C702 and C902 models, and have now extended the CyberShot range. Besides its 8 Mega Pixel camera, there are a range of other functions which are also provided in this series.
We are not surprised to therefore find, besides the numerous settings on the digital camera, a whole range of functions linked to the wireless networks, GPS and Internet access.
But the Sony Ericsson C905, which will be sold at the end of the year, will surely see stiff competition, with the models also coming with an 8 Mega Pixel camera and advanced options. The race for the ground between middle of the range telephones and smartphones has shown itself to be quite intense.
And this situation is even more difficult for Sony Ericsson who has seen a slowdown in their activity this year with less sales of this kind of device in Europe. They will therefore have to win back consumers in this area, while the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, their first mobile operating Windows Mobile, will attack the smartphones.
The model presented here is not the final version. It isn’t possible to evaluate all of the hand sets possibilities. Nevertheless, this first glance will give us an idea of what to expect.
