Using cinema releases as a basis for game productions often causes development problems which leaves a result that is unconvincing for normal people. A number of studios have ended up banging their heads against walls, but GRIN is perhaps the exception to this rule. As a reminder, the game is based on the Terminator Salvation film which will be released in theatres on the 3rd of June.
The game here uses vague inspiration, with the game not looking to be identical to the film. The development of the game began well before the final script was approved, which explains the differences in scenario. The adventure begins two years before the film of the same name at a time when Skynet is still suffering from the consequences of a nuclear war. The developers have assured us that the link between the game and film will be made, although this is something we weren’t able to see.
The concept is therefore based after the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the machines, completely ignoring the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles series. You take on the role of John Conner who is looking to reinforce the resistances ranks who is having trouble surviving.

This adventure can even be played as two, with the developers having designed the game with the idea in mind that a cooperation mode should be present. You play the adventure from the third person, with the life of the game being estimated at a dozen hours. These numbers come from the developers, who often have a tendency of overestimating the reality.
The concept has at least nine levels which play out in a very linear and basic way. In summery, you have to kill robots one after the other by any means possible, and continue this until there are none left. The covering positions mechanisms are present, but we suspect that they aren’t new and have instead come directly from Wanted.
Both in their form and execution, these movements remind me of the previous game. Colleagues that were present with me also confirmed their suspicions that this has already been seen. Getting yourself behind cover is recommended in any case as your energy doesn’t recharge over time, but instead at the end of each fight.
