Some of you may already know it, but a lot of people ignore it. The Freebox from the French internet provider Free offers a print server function. This means that you can connect your USB printer to the back of your ADSL box. Most printers are supported, although some users have reported certain dysfunctions with major brands. Installing this is extremely simple.

Under Windows, when adding a printer, you will need to add a local printer (and not network), creating a new port “standard TCP/IP Port”. The printer name and port name must be set as “mafreebox.freebox.fr” without the quotation marks.

At the next step you will need to fill in additional port information. From here you the port type is “Generic Network Card”. After this has been done then the final step in the installation is of the drivers!
