Pulse
Electronics Corporation (NYSE: PULS), a leading provider of
electronic components, introduces a family of central office (CO)
splitter modules that extend temperature operation from -40°C to +85°C,
enabling use in both upper and lower temperature extremes. Pulse’s new
BX8841NL SmartER™ CO splitter module complies fully with ETSI TS
101-952-1-1 Option A specification for 600 ohm impedances, for ADSL to
VDSL2 bands, and China’s YD/T 1187-2006 specification for 600 ohm
impedance for the ADSL2+ band with provision for metering at 12kHz and
16kHz. The BX8841NL, as well as the entire Pulse Electronics family of
splitter modules, meets all global operating standards and requirements
for operation.
The footprint of the BX8841NL is compatible with other SmartER series
modules. This enables modules to be interchanged to comply with
different global standards without having to redesign the layout of the
splitter board. The module is compliant with Broadband Forum TR-127 for
VDSL2 applications, ensuring the highest quality delivery of voice,
data, and video services (triple play) by maximizing the
interoperability of splitters and in-line filters with DSLAMs and
modems. The interchangeability of the modules and the benefit of a
common footprint allows the TELCO to rollout Fiber to the Curb (FTTC) or
Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) with copper on the last mile or few hundred
meters to any market worldwide.
“The BX8841NL is designed for use on a rack card in a DSLAM or within
roadside cabinets (CO in-the-street cabinet) to combine or split the
POTS from DSL data,” explained Ronan Kelly, CO and DSL product marketing
manager, Pulse Electronics. “Design engineers working on systems with
stringent temperature requirements can target a much wider market
portfolio.”
The RoHS compliant modules come in trays, but other packaging options
are available. Price and availability depend on volume. Most Pulse
Electronics standard CO splitter modules can be converted to operate
over extended temperature upon request. More information on Pulse
Electronics BX8841NL splitter module can be found on the datasheet
