Quantenna Communications, a leading semiconductor developer
headquartered in Fremont, California focused on ultra-reliable Wi-Fi
video networking for whole-home entertainment, is expanding its
operations to Arizona. Quantenna develops chipsets that deliver the
world’s best Wi-Fi performance, reliability and range. In a world
exploding with demand for HD video consumption, the disruptive wireless
performance of Quantenna chipsets uniquely and completely frees
consumers from the hassles and limitations of wired connectivity. The
company will open a research and development facility in Tempe, bringing
12 engineering and management jobs to the Valley initially and that
number is expected to triple over the next few years.
Quantenna will move into a building near the Loop 101 freeway and East
Elliot Road this month. At this new facility, Quantenna’s engineering
team will work to develop technology for wireless set-top boxes,
residential gateways, video bridges, and other devices that deliver
highly reliable broadband multimedia video and data services over Wi-Fi
anywhere in the home.
Because of the type of work Quantenna performs, the company will pursue
programs administered by the Arizona Commerce Authority. Quantenna cited
the region’s availability of the right type of workforce as its key
decision factor.
“We chose Tempe for our expansion because it offers a highly skilled and
talented workforce which is vital to the type of work we do,” said
Quantenna Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Sam Heidari. “We couldn’t be
happier with our decision and looking forward to attracting the best
Wi-Fi engineers in the industry.”
Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell spoke highly of the company and added that it
is representative of the various companies creating new technologies in
Tempe.
“We are thrilled at Quantenna’s decision to expand to Tempe. Quantenna
is a company that is leading the Wi-Fi and video revolution, and by
locating in Tempe, Quantenna is joining a community that focuses on
innovation,” Mayor Mitchell said. “Companies in our community are
working on amazing discoveries, such as Mars rover technology, flexible
display systems and robotic devices. We’re honored to welcome Quantenna
to Tempe, and we can’t wait to be a part of the story of how they’re
improving our world.”
“Quantenna Communications is a welcome addition to the Valley’s thriving
community of high-tech research facilities. Tempe and the entire Greater
Phoenix region welcome the innovative research and high-tech jobs
Quantenna provides,” Greater Phoenix Economic Council President & Chief
Executive Officer Barry Broome said.
