RE:msxml5.dll

I posted this onthe Safety Forum and I thought it should be here too. No
problem on this or other forums though!

" I'm using IE7B2. When I access this forum (Safety Center) I get the need
an active x message for msxml 5.0. When I run the active x I can no longer
see the forum but instead am directed to the IE7 download page. The only way
for me to see the forum is to disable the active x (msxml5.dll 3 entries) in
IE7 manage add-ons. But, when I have do a search on my system, msxml5.dll
"not found". "

Looks like I now have a dangeling DLL.

Anyone know what's happening here?

Patrick

You're welcome.

Pat,
I think we are getting in a loop here. I understand what ActiveX is about.
I ran the SC "full scan" sometime ago, took forever. Didn't ask to run an
ActiveX then, but, that was before the "click to activate" MS update. As I
recall, the MS update was to satisfy some legal concern and it was up to the
"site" builders to fix their sites to allow for normal ActiveX activation.
You'd of thought that a MS site would not have an issue with a MS ActiveX.
Have never been able to complete their(SC) registry "cleaner scan" and have
stopped trying. But that's another story.

I got the Activex message on their(SC) forum and there is where the problems
started. In any event, as their forum site is the only one to ask for the
msxml5.dll ActiveX, which is already on my system, I am going to do without
it! Considering what I am now going thru with the effects of a "restore"
(to/on WLOC), to remove the add-on warning message icon on the bottom of the
IE7 browser window, when at their forum site. Besides, after ignoring the
ActiveX message, their forum appears to run OK.

As to Bit Defender , don't think I'm going to get into yet another program
until the dust settles down on what I've got now.

Hope I get some answer as to why my system balked at the ActiveX in SC from
my posting in the Connect IE Feedback Forum.

Thanks for the effort
Patrick
