The computer is a Dell Dimension E521, Windows XP Media Centre Edition
Service Pack 3
I recently had to get rid of some nasty viruses/trojans and in the process I
think I have accidentally removed some system files. For e.g. I downloaded
the latest version of Real Player but it would not open because MSVCP90.dll
was not found. I ran the System File Checker which asked me to insert the
CD for SP3. The problem is that I never had this as I downloaded SP3
directly from MS. It seems that at least a few files are missing.
I have tried to uninstall SP3 through Add/Remove programs but when I
highlight SP3, the option to remove it is not there. (It is there for other
programs). I tried to uninstall it using 10bit uninstaller 2 but this did
not work. It gave the message that a file was missing. My aim was that I
could re-download SP3 from Microsoft if I uninstalled it.
