Metropolis Crimes stood out for us, especially when we discovered the studio behind its creation, Lexis Numérique, a talented French studio who were also behind the very good releases of In Memoriam and eXperience 112, two very good games which really managed to captivate the player. This time Lexis Numérique has been working on a DS game that takes us on investigations where you have to think to be able to get to the end of the four investigations. We should say straight away that Metropolis Crime doesn’t have the same depth of the two above mentioned PC games, being well below these, but nevertheless managing to captivate players despite a few defaults. Lexis Numérique hasn’t released one of their best games here, but fans of the genre will be able to nevertheless live through a very entertaining release.

You take control of Red Johnson, a private detective. You will find this guy at the beginning of the game confronting the death of a friend, with two people being found at the crime scene. You will therefore commence your long investigation phases by taking witness statements, interviewing people, collecting and analysing clues and performing games of deduction. When it comes to the analysis, you aren’t in the presence of the CSI teams, with the time that you spend being minimal and representing no more then 10 – 20% of the overall investigation. You will therefore spend most of your time in the field and not in the lab, and if nothing else, at least this will change the setting a little.
