Windows Live Essentials: a presentation of free programs

There is little chance that you will never have heard of Windows Live Essentials... But if this is the case, then you should know that this is a range of applications offered for free by Microsoft integrating Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Mail, Writer, Movie Maker, the Windows Live photo gallery and a parental control application... These programs are complimentary, but you could also make them essentials in Windows XP, Vista and 7 thanks to their ease of use and the manner in which you can easily perform daily tasks like conducing online discussions, writing emails, editing a blog, editing photos and videos and creating basic slideshows. We will look at all of these elements through this article!

wlessconclu01Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Mail, the two essentials!
The Windows Live Essentials applications suite contains numerous programs that you can’t get by without, which almost all users should be installing to their PC. We are specifically thinking of Windows Live Messenger for online chatting and Windows Live Mail for email, newsgroups and RSS streams. Under Windows Vista or Seven, these really are "essentials", and it would be a shame not to take advantage of them!

The other applications are more specific
As for the other programs, they are more specialised and therefore don’t need to be installed unless you have specific needs. This is the case for the Widows Live Photo Gallery program and Movie Maker, a program which has only gotten better with each new version, in our opinion. We also appreciated Windows Live Parental Control, notably for its settings which could be edited online with your user account. We won’t make any comment about Windows Live Writer, as this text editor is mainly aimed at bloggers.

wlessconclu03The other Windows Live services which take you further …
In addition to the Windows Live Essentials programs, other web applications are also on offer, totalling 17 free Internet programs! Among these is Windows Live Calendar, Windows Live Hotmail which provides the user with up to 10 GB of shared space for photos and videos, Windows Live Spaces which is dedicated to blogs, Windows Live Photos for your online albums and Windows Live SkyDrive to manage the online storage of your documents… A full list of available services can be seen at Windows Live.
