After the PlayBook OS 2.0 update, Research in Motion is taking care of their PlayBook tablet by adding a full keyboard accessory nicknamed BlackBerry Mini Keyboard.

Adding to the PlayBook tablets possibilities, which has recently received an important update with PlayBook OS 2.0, Research in Motion has added a full keyboard accessory which slips into a case.

The BlackBerry Mini Keyboard also transforms the PlayBook tablet into a quasi-netbook, bringing the comfort of a keyboard to this already mobile product, while adding ergonomic qualities that will help seduce mobile professionals.

The resemblance to a netbook is even more obvious with the BlackBerry Mini Keyboard bringing with it a touchpad which manages the PlayBook’s tactile gestures while also adding to standard mouse functions with a simple tap (left click), double tap (right click) and screen scroll.

The keyboard is only 6 mm thick and connects to the tablet via a 128 bit secure Bluetooth connection (to avoid the keyboard inputs being hijacked). It can be charged with the same power adaptor as the PlayBook tablet with up to 30 days of battery life being possible off a full charge.

It can be used with a certain number of third party applications, like Documents to Go, with it being particularly useful with virtualization solutions like Citrix Receiver.

It is currently available for 119.99 dollars.
