Rumours continue to circulate surrounding Microsoft, with some circles suggesting Microsoft will purchase Nokia’s mobile telephony division, while others have it that Microsoft will launch Windows 8 tablets under their own brand… At the moment, there are certainly a lot of rumours swirling about hardware projects, although Microsoft has confirmed none of them.
While Microsoft is late in the Smartphone and tablets segment, could it be that the company is now taking the bull by the horns and will directly launch their own products? The success of Kinect and the failure of Kin devices demonstrate that the company has previously taken this path, with partners or by themselves.
To accelerate the arrival of Windows 8/ARM tablets on the market (and to possibly counter any eventual disinterest shown by manufacturers who are busy launching Android powered devices), a rumour doing the rounds in Taiwan is that Microsoft may launch their own tactile tablets before the end of 2012.
Microsoft to be directly visible in the tablets market?
This is in fact a collaboration with Taiwanese OEM manufacturers and Texas Instruments, with Microsoft to implement their own entertainment services in the same way as other products of their like the Xbox and Windows Phone.
Microsoft could also try and reproduce the dynamic activity previously seen from some of their other activities in offering a hardware/software/content grouping like their major competitors Apple and Google.
Despite this possible direct access to the market, Microsoft continues to push their platform to OEM manufacturers.
