Samsung: 20 million Galaxy S III handsets shipped since May

Samsung is waiting for the iPhone 5 to land so that they can compare their Galaxy SIII’s success against Apple, with their handset having already broken all records.

Analysts are possibly already anticipating great success for the iPhone 5 at its launch (possibly to be on the 21st of September) but Samsung has something already in the bank with their leading smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III, which has sold more than 20 million units in barely three months.

Launched at the end of May 2012 in Europe and in June in the United States, the smartphone called on the success of the Galaxy S range, positioning the device at the top of the range to be the manufacturer’s smartphone of reference and emblem.

Despite Apple’s attacks, firstly by blocking their sale in the United States before their launch (although the request was rejected) and then by rolling this device into a group of phones being targeted for patent violation and design copying (a decision will be handed down in December), the Samsung Galaxy S III has rapidly imposed itself as the manufacturer’s best seller by shipping 10 million units by July.

This success, which contributed to making Samsung the worlds smartphone leader, ha also participated in the success of Google’s mobile platform, Android, which now registers 1.3 million activations each day.
