If you are like us, then looking at your Windows desktop after a change of your screens resolution you may be a little annoyed as your icons may be all mixed up. Well, if this is the case then we have a solution to your problem!
If you change the resolution of your screens resolution, for example from 1024*768 to 800*600, when you return to 1024*768 your icons will not be on the same place as they were earlier.
To fix this, you will need to download a small dll called layout.dll and copy this to the following folder: c:\windows\system32.
Next Download the layout.reg file and double click on it.
To save the position of your entire desktop icons you will need to right click on an icon (any, but not a shortcut) the recycle bin or My Computer for example and chose “Save Desktop Icon Layout”.

Change your screens resolution (800*600 for example) and then change it back to its original size (here, 1024*768). After it has been changed back you will see all of the icons a little everywhere (they will actually be represented by an 800*600 pixel square).

Right click on an icon again (not a shortcut) and now chose “Restore Desktop Icon Layout”.

And what a miracle! Everything should be back in their original places like magic!
